Maxine's Closet is getting ready for it's 9th back to school distribution to be held on Friday, August 11th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shelby Middle School.  Last year with the help of countless donors and volunteers, Maxine's Closet helped a great number of Oceana County kids get back to school with the essentials they need including; school clothing, new socks and underwear, backpacks, school supplies, etc.

As you clean out your children's closets this summer, please consider donating clean clothing in good condition to others in need.  Clothing may be dropped off at Shelby Methodist Church.  Donations of new socks, underwear, backpacks, school supplies, and volunteer time, etc. are also needed.

Maxine's Closet is a non-profit organization that began in 2009 as a mission to help Oceana County area families with essential back to school clothing and supplies.

A food truck, sponsored by Mercy Health Physicians will be available to provide free groceries to area families starting at 10 a.m. in the Middle School parking lot.

Shelby Public Schools food service program will provide a free breakfast and a free lunch for children who attend.

A Community resource fair will also be available to participating families.
